Rollpac
Earned 2nd Place at the 2023 IOPP 48-HR RePack Competition
Our challenge, issued by WestRock, was to design a fiber-based e-commerce shipping solution that could adequately protect small, fragile objects without the help of additional packing materials. We realized a circular geometry could reinforce the contained object without requiring extra padding.
The final product, Rollpac, has a moldable nature that can be rolled around a variety of small, fragile objects, making it a scalable and sustainable packaging solution.
The Brief:
Issued by WestRock, our challenge was to create a fiber-based e-commerce shipping solution that could protect small, fragile objects without the need for primary packaging around the contained product.
On a roll:
We decided that our solution didn’t have to be a box.
With this cylindrical shape, we can wrap the package around itself to minimize the loose space around the contained product, but still allow for six degrees of freedom.
Scalability:
The cylindrical shape allows the packaging to be sold in a theoretically endless roll, so any number of products could be rolled within one unit.
Branding:
We created a brand identity for Rollpac itself, but e-commerce businesses can choose display their own branding on the exterior of the packaging.
This makes Rollpac stand out among the countless cardboard boxes consumers receive in the mail.
Tagline:
For whatever you’re rolling out, pack it with us.
On-package copy:
